In March 2009, I cornrowed my hair like so...

and rocked it like this for a couple of weeks. I even washed it and replait it in the same style. Unfortunately, this coincides with the telogen effluvium (shedding phase) which occurs naturally 3-4 month post-partum.  (Some women lose more hair than others). For me I lost huge tufts of hair from my temples. I look like I have been wearing micro braids for too long and have traction alopecia :(

You can really see it in these shots:

hopefully this will fill in again over time as I continue to eat healthiy, take my post natal vitamins and avoid stressing the hairline.

Thank you for posting these pictures. I have traction alopecia from wearing box braids and pulling them too tight in a ponytail. I am all natural and would like to have sisterlocks. I have been very concerned about how my hairline would look with no hair up front. Your hair is very beautiful. Keep rocking.

Lady Brown,
You are more than welcome. It's always a bit scary posting images where you look less than your best - but I am glad that it has been useful to someone.

At some point I'll post my alopecia areata photos as well.

All the best :)

This is cool.Thank you for posting these pictures.I hope they'll be a warning to those who are braving the tightness in order to look great.Seeing as I've started from the beginning, I'm looking forward to seeing if the damage has been reversible.
