Notting Hill Carnival 2012

I just had to BREAK AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

Sometimes when life has been to taxing... and all the topics have been too heavy... and every day has felt like the biggest struggle ever - you just need to pop some strings and let loose and be free.

Over the UK Bank holiday weekend I immersed myself in my home culture and did just that! I BROKE AWAY! And I danced on the road for every strand of hair I've lost and regrown, every frustration, every fear, every bit of resentment and confusion... and did I mention frustration? LOL.

I also danced in celebration: I wanted to celebrate that I am still here, still going (some days stronger than others), still working, still striving to be better, still caring for my clients 'holistic' and 'hair', still loving my husband and my children, still respecting my family, still connecting with my friends.

I got some installation photos to share with you but first lemme share my carnival!

Favourite song on the road this year? Mr Fete by Machel Montano. Why? Because I love the video - it just captures what a party looks like back home - with people singing along and just being happy.

and here's me with my family
