Recently a good friend of mine shared this post and I was surprised at the emotive (and often negative) responses it provoked.
So for the next 10 days and maybe for the remainder of lent: I am going to share ONE THING that summarises my encounters with Oxbridge graduates.
I will not be ashamed or be made to feel like a sellout or conversely, a beggar.... I respect the sacrifices that were made (in both recent and distant history) so I could sit in those classes and walk through those halls. And I appreciate how those experiences (good and bad) shaped me into who I am now.
So, I'll start with Nadine Drummond, fellow island girl (Jamaica stand up!) and South Londoner, studied Law at Cambridge. Taught me "to Be everything I want to be" and live life without regrets.
Now working for Al-Jazeera and living in Doha! Living her dream!!
And if you'd like to see the original photo story that got us thinking - here it is:
WELCOME TO THE TAPESTRY OF ME....
These are my words and this is my journey, from 'there to hair'!
My life, the lessons learned in and through love and loves ones; and my hair affairs.
